Hi there,

I have had an ileostomy for almost a year now and this website is soo helpful!!

I always had discharge from my rectum, at least once a day, but lately its been very painful and bloody. I have tried using some supositories from the past but I haven't seen much of a result. Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Hi Kerrie

I suggest the doc - as soon as! Blood from anywhere needs looking at. Let us know how you get on, Rachel xx

Agree - see the doc as soon as you can. Discharge is 'normal', blood isn't.

Hope all goes well.

A year after I went through radiation for a rectal cancer diagnosis, I developed a rectal-vaginal fistula (a hole in your body...google it).  Blood was the first sign.  It was more of an emergency to me than the doctor.  He told me that the healing of radiated areas isn't usually very good, and they can't do a repair until it heals.

Get to that doctor and check it out. Peace & Love.

Hi Kerrie, consider this as a request from your friends: get your ass to the doctor. It might be something simple, but get it checked out soonest. Let us know how it went; please do it. Ed

Thanks for your help. I made an appointment with my specialist and will let you know how it goes. They were quite concerned too when I told them, I guess I just have the fear of going back to the doctor. Haha, this is never ending

Thanks,

Take care!

Good chance it's just diversion proctitis; an inflamation of the remaining rectum and sigmoid colon.  I had it and it cleared up. Good luck.
