Well, I’ve made it through the 1st week of being an ostomate. I was sent home with a 2 pc Hollister bag. The thin plastic and accordion has been giving me issues.
It’s applied properly with an Eakin seal and no leaks that I can see. I’ve had to change the bag everyday for the past 3 days. Something is definitely seeping out somewhere.

Hi everyone, 362 days on carnivore and I'm still doing great. I'm consistently at 150 to 152 lbs and full of energy, so the 44 lb weight loss is effortless to maintain. Hi,

When I put the wafer on I can’t seem to get the tape to go on smooth to my skin. There always are some wrinkles. How should I go about it? What I usually do is peel of just the top part of the tape on both sides and then as I run my finger down I continue taking it off. Should I take all of the tape off and stick it to my skin that way?

Has anybody's doctor requested they measure and record ilostomy output for doctor to supposievely determine health?

I am having a really hard time eating. No appetite. Had ileostomy Oct 17. gone from 138 - 115. Surgeon put me in hospital Oct 26. Said I was extremely dehydrated. So nauseated all the time. Original colostomy was oct 2023. Any one else no appetite and nausea?

Hello everyone, I just got my ileostomy on Friday and I’m dealing with major depression. I know it’s not the end of the world but I just have so many degrading thoughts alone in the hospital room. I’m having so much output and it smells bad, eating is so hard and I’m just wondering if anyone else felt this way at first.

My surgery with resulting colostomy was on May 19, 2024. Going on 7 months now and just starting to feel I’m settling into a new routine. The IAI (intra abdominal infection), plus gas & some bleeding seems to be finally letting up. I’ve used abdominal acupressure, Reiki, and diet changes to readjust to the new routing of my colon. I have had repeated skin issues on the same spot near my stoma. I've treated it with stoma paste and a covering of therablue covered by a small bit of extender to keep it in place before affixing a barrier ring and then a flange.

The skin eventually heals but it always comes back. This time a big chunk of skin is missing.

I have an ileostomy and need to have shoulder surgery. Has anyone else out there experienced having use of one arm with their ostomy (for a limited time of course).
I have had my ileo since 1972, but I'm stumped over the aftercare on this one! How will I empty my bag??? I don't like anyone else to mess with it. Plus, I live alone now.

Dr connected rectum to colon Oct 12. took down colostomy and create ileostomy. he said he did to allow colon and rectum to heal thoroughly. Am tentatively scheduled for reconnect after 3 months(possible Jan/Feb) if no reconnect what are my options?

Today is my 10-year ostomy anniversary. I have long avoided serious consideration of reversal surgery because it's difficult to imagine my quality of life being more comfortable than it is today with a bag.
