What's the best solution for redness and irritation around the stoma before applying the wafer.

So, last week I had my surgery and am now living with an ileostomy. Unfortunately, in addition to having to adjust to the normal learning curve associated with wearing and changing an ostomy bag, my initial bag I received in the hospital (Hollister 2 piece) caused 5 blisters to appear on day 4. One of the surgeon's PAs popped and cleaned them, and the WOC nurse covered them with a cloth design ...

I'm 8 weeks post-ostomy installation. My doctor has given me the OK to resume my garden-farm work. This involves a lot of shoveling, weeding, planting, and harvesting. I have problems with the barriers leaking while doing these things.
Any suggestions for ways to reduce this when doing manual labor?

I'm home two weeks after spending three months in the hospital (septic shock) - then step down - then a rehab facility. Still trying to wrap my head around my new ileostomy world - does it get easier to accept as time goes on? Any insight is deeply appreciated.

My output is so acidic that the edges of my ostomy are bleeding, not to mention the skin around the ostomy is super irritated. :(

I am unsure about getting my colostomy reversed. I don't trust that the doctors are including everything about the reversal, both pros and cons. Would appreciate your input about yourself (not others). Thanks very much!

I'm a soon-to-be newbie to this world. Do people use underwear to tuck the bags into? What type and brand? Are some types of support straps ever used? Can the bag just typically hang loose over the pants?

Had a blockage two days ago. I deduce it must have been the pickled red cabbage which I chewed very well. It cleared after 24 hours. I was about to go to A&E. I woke up with excruciating gas pains. I'm assuming a blockage. Anything I can do to ease the pain and get things moving besides lots of water and Gas-X? Thanks in advance.

I use a blow dryer after showering to help dry off my skin and pouch and find this very helpful. I am going camping soon and wondered if anyone knows where I could find a cheap battery-powered hair dryer. All I can find online are $60+.

Today was a good day - continuing to figure out how to live life with Oscar (my ostomy). Went in the ocean for the first time. Swam with my dog and so forth - maybe 30 mins total. Bag had been on for six days and changed it when I got back. Everything looked good, stoma happy, adhesive holding, etc. Wore a makeshift wrap and a running singlet in the water to hold everything together.
