Can you use Castor Oil in your naval as regular people do. With an Ileostomy? Natural remedy and they say it is good for organs… no constipation, helps with preventing scar tissue??? What do you think???

Castor oil in your navel…what do I think?  Well, I have never heard of this either…at my age I though I had heard it all…well, the old googlemeister and of course IA had a lot to say about it - my goodness, what else have I not heard of?

Those old encyclopedia Brittanica salespeople did a very good sales job on my mom, however, not so much on us kids!!!  Those books just collected dust ….ahhhh but Google…well now we’re talking…just a few keystrokes and you’ve got the world at your fingertips!  jb

Not really for my skin… Suppose to go to your innerds and clean things up!
I look young for my age 75 and I use Castor Oil at night on my face & neck… This was more for internal organs

It was in a Dr Naturlphatic  book

This is a new one on me too.  I can't see how putting something in your navel would affect your internal organs.  I also can't see how it would do any real damage, so probably safe enough to try out.

I'm m sorry I thought you were talking about it for the skin and a scar or roughness but  no That's not how the Castro oil works trust me I had to take it .. it's works when you take it by mouth .and you do know the belly button isn't attached to anything right ?

It has been used for centuries my grandma gave it to my dad when he was young .. I had to take it when I was little I had issues then going to the bathroom. But what does that have to do with putting it on/in the belly button ?

I never heard of this either but I honestly can't see how it would hurt. I find it hard to believe it would do anything at all, but worth a try if you want to try it.

PS drinking castor oil would be very different! Lol

I am not an expert by any means, but here is what my research tells me. Castor Oil is supposedly the only oil that can penetrate the skin and get to the organs. The belly button is that original connection we all had in the womb, so is a direct line in.  It has healing powers and can also help scar tissue to heal better.  It has even been said to shrink breast tumors.

This past year, I endured three botched colostomy surgeries, with a specialist finally repairing the damage in a fourth surgery, followed by six weeks of radiation treatment (I refused chemo) for a Stage IV cervical tumor that grew through the rectal wall. The colostomy was a precaution because dr. believed a fistula would develop in the vaginal/rectal wall as the treatment shrunk the tumor. My colon was healthy.  I used castor oil on the weekends (no oil during radiation) rubbing in the belly button and abdomen to get into the female organs.  After six weeks I was sent home with "no curative treatment for me."  I took matters into my own hands with supplements, and three months later, PET Scan showed no cancer! At nine months I was again cancer-free. The tumor was Gone.

So, in order to then heal the two female holes God gave me, and reduce scarring, I began to insert Castor oil in both a couple of times a week.  Physical exams show little scarring, both have healed, rectal muscles strong. AND day after Thanksgiving I'm going in for colostomy reversal!!!!!

Does Castor Work? I say it does.

I truly believe that was the power of God that healed you not the oil. God heals all the time and I have witnessed his healing hands first hand and also with my nephew who had leukemia and he is now cancer free.  I am there with you on the many ostomy surgeries I had 6 all last year with 2 being emergency and I just now fully healed from the last one.

Interesting topic!  There IS a lot of anecdotal evidence for the use of castor oil superficially on the skin..........and very little research done on the subject.  I would think that being an oil it would do some wonderful things related to hydrating your skin, and people's experience online would seem to support that.  Can't hurt to try it, that's for sure.

But whether it can go completely THRU the skin and get to your organs is VERY VERY HIGHLY unlikely.  Think about it for a second.......your belly button is pure scar tissue.  And I know you’re thinking that Aloe or Vit E and probably Castor Oil makes scar tissue softer…...BUT behind your belly button are quite a few layers of tissue, including the parietal peritoneum, the peritoneal fat layer, your abdominal muscles, fascia and other subcutaneous tissues.  Then if the Castor Oil makes it that far (which it won't) and actually enters your peritoneal cavity (the 'bag' that holds all your organs, if you will) there's a whole bunch of peritoneal fluid in there that your organs 'float' in.  They don't acutally float in it, but it's all over the place to allow your organs to move and shift........it's like dumping a quart of motor oil in a bag of oranges, if you know what I mean.  So the castor oil not only has to get thru all the layers of skin, fat, muscle and the peritoneal wall........it will then either be diluted by the peritoneal fluid or encapsulated by it, depending on the viscosities of both fluids.  But what makes matters worse...........is the fact that peritoneal fluid is sterile.  Has to be.  And if any castor oil gets mixed with it..........it won't be.  Which would trigger a MASSIVE immune response and boy would you feel like shit.  And of course you'd get sepsis and most likely die if not caught in time.......which there won't be a lot of.  So while I’d love there to be a simple wonder cure like Castor Oil that can cure all our ills……..I’m very skeptical.

One cool thing about castor oil is the plant that makes it.  I grow them every year because they are HUGE (6-8ft tall), grow very quickly and have ginormous leaves!  It's a very impressive plant!  And in the fall it makes a beautiful seed pod before it dies that lets you remove the seeds to plant again in the Spring or grind up into castor oil!  It's just a pretty cool plant.  It's hard to find the seeds at your local nursery, but you can ask them to order them for you........their techncial name is Ricinis Communis seeds.  One word of caution though...........if anything (kids, pets, or stupid adults) eat any part of the leaves from this plant.........they'll die.  It's VERY toxic.  How toxic you ask..........check this out........about 6,000 times more poisonous than cyanide and 12,000 times more poisonous than rattlesnake venom, per Mr. Google.  So don't eat it..........or slip it into someone you don't like's salad.  Really.

Hhm..only time I ever heard of castor oil was on the ' little rascals". Spanky  or alphalfah   were sick..not well...and they had to drink it.

No doubt some old school or old world products helped back then. Still can be used today.

Will others lather up in it now? Or put a drop or two into their naval or..ur...em..private areas?

That remains to be heard. ..

Just think aloud here, I wonder if the oil could be absorbed through the skin and get into the bloodstream that way. It may have systemic medicinal effects. That hasn't been clinically studied to the best of my knowledge.  It would certainly be a more attractive dosing method than drinking it.

No.. I respectfully disagree with it needing to be made by big pharmacy.

I'd use castor oil on a squeaky door hinge or wheel as I would to soften skin if it worked.

Is it the same castor oil made back in the 50's?  Doubt it.

Same manufacturer?

Just would like to see a bit more science before I get lubed up. 😁..or more ppl using it with pass or fail results.

I am with you on the not needing a big pharmacy.. half the stuff they have out I will not take I don't think an antibiotic should have that many crazy side effects such as tendon ruptures , seizures, kidney failure and you know the list goes on. The older stuff that has been around for ever I trust. The Castro oil I have to agree in the fact as we don't know if it is made the same way it was back then especially since everything has changed. I do know that Castro oil was used to keep you regular but it was taken by mouth and tastes nasty. My grandma  gave it to my dad growing up he knows Castro oil very well, It was given to me when I was young because I had issues then not being able to go to the bathroom . Putting it on skin however will do nothing for your internal organs . It has to be taken by mouth and go through the intestines to be effective. And I could get into a huge thing on absorbing of the skin but it would be very technical. I was a cosmetologist and we had to study  how absorbs of the skin what does and doesn't and what would absorb through the top layer and what would with the 3 layer and we study's what each and every layer is and what it does and whats in each layer and so on and so forth. We even had to study  antamony. And electrical . Point being no it won't reach the organs when topically applied.  And think about it if that was the case lotions and body's sprays and deodorants and soaps would all be reaching our  insides.

Hi Susan,

Yeah, it possibly could get into the bloodstream that way, but everything that gets into the bloodstream either thru the skin or thru the intestines (or thru the lungs) is filtered by the liver before it's sent to the heart to be pumped thru the body.  The liver has hundreds of functions, but if we're keeping this simple it basically takes your blood and breaks it down (metabolizes it) into proteins, carbohydrates, fat and waste.  The first three get sent by your blood into the heart where they're distributed thru your body.  The waste is routed to your urine and leaves that way.  So the problem here.........and I'm really oversimplifying......is that the liver sends out those 3 things and anything else gets trashed.

If Castor Oil was absorbed into your bloodstream thru the skin it would have to go thru the liver which would either break it down into those 3 things the body needs or it would toss it out as waste.  If it broke it down to those 3 things..........you're body is already getting lots of those 3 things, so it really wouldn't be any different (the liver also regulates the amount of those 3 things that gets into the bloodstream).   If it broke it down to waste product it would simply be peed out.

So my point here is that if Castor Oil got into the bloodstream it would never reach the organs as Castor Oil.......it would be broken down into proteins, carbs (sugar) or fat, which is already being delivered by the bloodstream.  So there's nothing new getting to the cells of the organs. I already explained why it can't reach the organs directly thru the skin without killing you first, so I think we're running out of ways for the Castor Oil to do what's being claimed.  But.........I never say never, as the medical community actually knows very little about how the body works............so again, if it works for you ......do it.

;O)

Believe me, God has received all the glory for my miraculous healing. He has seen me through hell this past year and has never left me or forsaken me.  In no way am I saying that Castor Oil cured my cancer.  I do believe it helped reduce scarring once the tumor was gone.  As I prepare for a colostomy reversal next week, I am praying for His continued blessings and a speedy recovery. I am held firmly in His hands,

I understand your point. I never intended to imply it would go anywhere as "castor oil". The oil is broken into its components as it is absorbed into the bloodstream.  One or more of those components may have a medicinal effect.

I'm also oversimplifying here. In the same way as most medications, they circulate in your bloodstream and make their impact. Eventually the liver (or sometimes the kidneys) pulls it out of the bloodstream and metabolizes it as you described so well. It's actually a bit of a race to see how much impact the substance can have before it gets destroyed or excreted.
