You really ought not to speed-read messages; you might just miss something. 😉

Hi warrior,

You'll definitely find a lot of support from the large community here. Everyone is super helpful and always ready to share their experiences.

About the UOAA Convention, it sounds like a fantastic opportunity! I've heard from others that these events are not only informative but also a great way to connect with people who truly understand what you're going through. If it's your first time, you'll likely find it both enlightening and comforting. Plus, who can resist the idea of meet and greets... and grits? If you decide to go, it could be a wonderful experience.

Joining this website was the best decision for me. The support and advice I've received have truly changed my life. I hope you find it just as beneficial!

The comment about speed reading was directed at those who read my topic (like Speedy Gonzales) and still couldn't figure out what the accommodation was for and why.

I must have been stuttering.

I think "wheelchair" tripped a lot of people up. That was not my intention. It was an example.

I'm pretty sure we have ostomates in wheelchairs with SCI.

(spinal cord injuries). So I made "accessibility request" covering those peeps... as well as those with hearing impairments.

Don't follow me, I'm lost too😆

MeetAnOstoMate.org is the only place where people truly understand you. It's because everyone here has an ostomy.

Many come here for advice or to give advice, others have found good friends, and some have even built long-lasting relationships.

Aaah. No need to apologize.

I'm guilty of skimming through threads. It happens.

Sometimes using certain words in examples will catch your eye and take you off the real topic when responding.

How many of us are guilty of that?🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋🧏‍♂️🧏‍♀️🧏.. yeah, me too.

Some of Henry's titles just recently posted were a perfect example of this. A few others posted titles similarly. Alex and I made light of some... Clear case of interpreting and responding just by title reading—for a laugh or two.

I wanted my topic to be about the situations we face at any conference. You've seen those blue signs of a wheelchair showing accessibility all over the world. ♿️

Have you seen as many signs with that giant 🦻 ear around?

So the blue sign encompasses all disabilities.

Back on topic, my point being $200 to register for the convention seems ridiculous to sit there with my thumb up my...

👃 nose. And so far, those chiming in capable of hearing the speaker, from previous conventions, say it's boring.

Ha! Ha! For that same $200, I'd buy a round of drinks for our Stomarines. We could hold a "bag purging moment of stink" for those who could not attend.

So maybe change your plans and everyone come to Michigan. I guarantee we have places to drink and stink up with no 200-dollar entry fee. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm joking (kind of). I'm just jealous that I can't come and still get home in time to put on my daily IV. If this happens, I insist you all have a drink for me.
