I found this on a radio show from Radio 4 on another ostomy website and thought it might interest some people to listen to. It's about other things too, but if you skip to about 31 mins 45 secs, it gets to the part about ostomies.

Hi Sophie96, is that the article on Woman's Hour? I did hear it and found it to be a bit of a revelation, considering there are a lot of people with ostomies, yet you never hear any programs discussing the issues. It must be some sort of taboo subject. I think I'll have another listen to it.

Hello Sophie96, I am an ostomate and an ostomy nurse, and that BBC broadcast was terrific. I went on to ostomylifestyle and there was more information, and it was well done. After 13 years with my lifesaving bag, I am still learning. Thanks.

This is the first time I have left a comment. I too heard the article on Woman's Hour and thank goodness this taboo subject has been brought out into the open on national radio. I've had my ileostomy for 4 years now and have found that it's something you just didn't talk about to anyone.
