Hey folks,

Well, I'm going in for another surgery this May. They found 3 hernias. I'm the guru on hernias, having about 7 now. It gets pretty old after a while. I'm always thinking positive and listening to my body. My first stoma was on my right. I got a hernia, moved that to the left 7 years later, another hernia, plus 2 belly button hernias. I had my doctor laughing, telling her I'm running out of real estate for any more stomas. Anyway, have a great spring and a wonderful summer. Ed. Amen.

Hey folks, well, things are very good for me. I didn't have to have another stoma move; they repaired the hernias, repaired the stoma hernia, etc. I lost 30 lbs so far; that's from May 3. I lowered my A1C from 6.0 to 5.8. Breathing a lot better, had a real bad cough after the surgery. I'm doing my bucket list, went and saw the tall ships in Boston, this past Sunday went to an airshow honoring our servicemen and women and first responders. Met our governor, Paul LePage. Great day. Amen. Thanks for reading. Next trip is to find Waldo. Lol. God bless you all.

Hi Slippery,
Well, I am 64 years old and have had my ileostomy for 52 years now. I had a right-sided stoma in the beginning, but after many revisions and hernias, it is now on my left side—I'm still not really adjusted to it being on the left side; it felt better on the right. I live in northern New Hampshire, so try being a gay male with these issues where I live. I knew I was attracted to men when I was ten years old and let the doctors know before they operated on me, but I had no choice. I was so severely ill that they told my parents without the surgery I would be dead in 24 hours, and there was a chance I might not make it through the surgery. Surgery back in 1968 was way different than today. My original surgery was done at Children's Hospital in Boston, MA—there was not a hospital in NH that could handle my case. Now I have 4 hernias, and no one in NH will operate; they say I am more than they can handle—I guess I need to go to Mass General in Boston, MA, and have a consult. I was reading some stuff they had posted, and it seems with people with multiple hernias, they get plastics involved to get the best outcome. Well, I just thought I would drop more than a note, I guess.
