For a few months now, I have noticed these dark spots on the shower floor. I had no idea what they were, and it was difficult to clean them off. Upon closer examination, I realized they were little wax balls! Well, damn, guess who was responsible for dropping these wax balls?
A while back, I started using a barrier ring, and every 3rd day I would shower with no bag and remove the residual around my stoma with hot water and my finger until the area was smooth. I guess I thought those little crumbles were just going down the drain with the rushing water - ahhh, but not so… several would stick to the floor. I hate to admit it, but (after 2+ years with a stoma) I've learned something new (and yes, I can hear you mumbling “old dog, new tricks,” Alex!).
Anyway, I do not want to take full blame - you see, I was under the impression that the adhesive removers were for adhesive - the dark black sticky stuff around the tape and also allowing for easy removal of said tape! Don't you think they should write Adhesive & Wax Residue Remover on the packet? I rest my case, Henry.
Silly me - how did I not know that by sitting on the toilet (before my shower) I could actually use an adhesive remover wipe to remove the waxy residue immediately around my stoma caused by the barrier ring, and these little balls would drop onto the toilet paper I have placed in the toilet? So hoity-toity (thoughtlessly silly or frivolous) me!
This new discovery has also resulted in less water usage - not only less time in the shower to get that shizz off my belly but less water used to clean up those damn dots! My “IKETTE” (not the singing group but rather - Isaac Walton League of America) leader would be so proud of me!
