Where's Henry? Ostomy Memories - The Mystery

There are so many scenarios as to where HenryM has gone. The great mystery now is will we ever know?

I certainly enjoyed his posts although I didn't always agree with him. I was entertained by his observations, opinions, and tall tales. Beyond these daily posts, his longevity as an OstoMate never ceased to amaze me.

Without research (my laziness), I am not sure how long he provided this entertainment on MAO. In the short time (about 2 years) I have been on this site, I did read some mean-spirited comments directed at him. I chalk this up to ignorance and a lack of respect not uncommon in today's world.

I am hoping Henry's extended vacation is simply his fictional plot and so “Henrylike”. Rather than a vacation, in reality, I would like to believe he has chosen his “NARRATIVE RETIREMENT PLAN”. With that being said, I offer the following:

Is it possible our Henry is still on this ostomate site? Having canceled all his former identifying information, he is now incognito, posing as a newcomer with a new identity which we have yet to detect? I am going with this….

I'm sure you have a point with some of his posts; there was one not too long before his vacation that seemed out of character (one of his replies). Whatever he is doing now, I hope he is enjoying himself, and you never know, he may indeed reintroduce himself as a totally different person. XX

Maybe he is one of the rare ones that found a match on this site and now uses all those wonderful words on his new found mate ( A girl can dream ).

How about he took up the role as the Mole in whack-a-mole? Last time you guys brought up "Where's Henry?" someone checked his profile and he had just been on 3 days ago. I just checked his profile and he had been on over a week ago, plus he still rates high in the overall numbers, so he or someone posing as Henry is popping up here and there. 🐻🔨

Yikes! I think he's more of a land-lubber than a cruise ship vacationer. Hiking boots would be uncomfortably hot on a ship, but then he could have packed his caftan. Refresh my memory, someone, was he the one who favored caftans as his personal “lounge-a-lot”?

When Henry starts posting again.

Not that it's any of my business where he is, but I'm guessing it isn't good.

A very interesting theory JB.  The fact that the system shows he was recently on the site (if that can be believed) makes you wonder.  If Henry was a guy with a huge ego, I might think he was just being a fly on the wall to see how many people miss him, but that just doesn't seem like Henry.   I wonder if we will ever know.  I just keep hoping that one day I will sign on and he will be back, being his curmudgeonly self.

We miss you, Henry... we need your tolerance and curmudgeonly wise observations on humanity. Henry has an unmatched subtlety and a logic that is unmatched, and we need that now more than ever.

Wherever you are, Henry, I sincerely hope you have your feet up, wrapped in your caftan (just for the image) and sipping on a cold cocktail with an umbrella sticking out of it, served by a bikini-clad, suntanned beautiful lady... closely observed by your better half.

I want to grow up to be half (high hopes here!!) as wise as Henry.

The concern shown by many here about Henry's welfare is sincere. It goes to show how well-liked 'Memories' was, but what has happened is for Henry to disclose or by someone near him, not the administration.

Sometimes "missing persons" simply don't want to be found. I picture Our Henry grinning with pride as he sees how much love and concern we can show for someone we have only met on this wonderful side (as opposed to the TikTok side, etc.) of the internet through his parables on how life should be lived. Real pearls of wisdom are as rare as hen's teeth, and Henry contributed more than his share of those jewels to elevate the conversation.

So wherever you are, Henry, I sincerely hope you are in a good place, keeping an eye on us from afar.

Hopefully, Henry has woven this mystery himself which would mean that he is safe somewhere. They say that Agatha Christie conceived her mystery novels backwards. She knew their denouement before she started writing them. How many know that she wrote romance novels as well under the name Mary Westmacott? A poignant one called 'Absent in the Spring.' A title from Shakespeare's sonnet 98: ' From you have I been absent in the spring.....'
