Can't say that I have ever noticed that.

I have never seen that at all. I would go see your ostomy nurse and let her see how you're fitting it all together. Regards, IGGIE

No idea, maybe you got lava coming out and it melts everything it touches. 😁 I see the edge of my barrier ring a bit after I apply a new setup as it swells up around my stoma but no chunks in the output.

Happens to me quite frequently—just means the hole you cut in your bag was a bit larger than the ring hole and output deteriorated the barrier ring which then drops into the bag... Yeah, sometimes I blame it on my less than 20/20 vision—reminds me of an old joke...

This guy says to his friend, “I have rectalitis.”

The friend says, “What the heck is rectalitis?”

He says it's when the nerves in your eyes get crossed with the nerves in your ass and you have a shitty outlook on life...

Not as funny now that I am an ostomate. JB

Oh JB, you just gave me a big laugh! This is an old joke my mum used to tell, may she rest in peace. It was a slight variation on yours. The condition was called 'optical rectumitis', but resulted in the same thing, a shitty outlook on life! Interestingly, I've always loved the way you use 'prolly' for 'probably' as my mum is the only other person on earth I ever knew who used that when she wrote, usually in letters to her old army buddy friends.

Rectalitis... so that's what all my bosses suffered from! And I just thought they were all shitheads.

I cut my wafer hole much larger than my stoma size. Usually, the first day or two, small pieces of the barrier break off and float around the bag. Adds a little color to the mix.

I have had this happen before. If your stoma tries to wiggle under the ring, it can puff up and a piece can break off and go down into the bag with output. The way I have fixed this is that I make sure the ring goes just to the edge of where you cut the hole in the wafer but not past the edge.

Why do you cut the wafer hole much larger?
