Have had my ileo for 40+ years, and since I had a revision done laparoscopically 6 years ago to lengthen my stoma, my tailbone lower back pain is a constant with some nausea/cramping thrown in. Any ideas?

Just clarifying, you’ve been in pain w/ constant nausea and cramping for 6 years since your revision?

What does your Dr. say about this? That's a long time to suffer without knowing what the cause is.

My doctor says it's probably IBS. Great. A name pulled out of a hat but no solution!

Hey Louise, have they done any scans or anything since it started after that surgery?

I had a tailbone X-ray, but that was 4 years ago and showed nothing. Because I am on drugs for depression and anxiety, they think it is all in my head.

I don't think it is all in your head, pain is real, and if you have pain then they should be searching for a reason and trying to make you more comfortable. They can give you something for nausea. And even something for pain. I have been on both kinds of medication. Persist with your doctor or get a referral to a specialist. Gastrologist if they think it might be IBS. Someone who can help you. If they can't.

This makes me so angry. The x-ray doesn't measure pain. I remember the idiot Dr. telling me my pain from UC was caused by worrying. My brother had CD and was in treatment from the same Dr. Thank God I went to Duke University Health Care where I was taken seriously and treatment was compassionate. I wasted too many years suffering with the local Dr. Try to find other doctors that will do more than an x-ray.
