In a few months, I'll be going in for a colostomy reversal. Will it be as bad as the initial colostomy surgery? Will I be able to poop normally again after surgery? What potential roadblocks will I face after a reversal? Will it ever be normal?

Thanks,

Andy

From my experience, no, it won't be as bad as the original surgery. Yes, you will be able to poop normally again; the length of time varies for individuals. As for roadblocks, don't do too much too soon; a lot of rest is needed to let your body heal. And yes, you will be normal again. It will take time, though. I had a reversal 15 months ago, and only now is my midsection starting to feel really strong.

I am not a candidate  but several on here  have had very successful  reversals. I hope they will jump in to answer your questions.
