Hi everyone. I'm back. I am still having issues. I'm allergic to some of the glue on flanges. So my nurses have been working hard to find something that works and doesn't cause rashes. But now I have another problem. A couple weeks ago I started feeling pain inside my stoma. After going to my family doctor he sent me back to my surgeon. I found out I have a hernia. My surgeon says she can't fix it here because to many complications can happen. So now I have to go back to my surgeon in the city. Do I have to have it fixed? Don't think I can handle another surgery right now. Any input would be great.  Just need to talk to someone. I feel so lonely.

Hi There,

I had an ostomy for 11months but have been reversed for almost 2 yrs. I had 3 hernias when they reversed me which they fixed but all 3 have come back along with several small ones all on my abdominal wall. So I am facing yet a 3rd surgery soon, I was hoping to just wait a while but 2 weeks ago my intestine kinked because of the large one in the middle of my tummy, 2 days in the hospital with horrible pain and an NG tube. Some hernias can wait as long as you are not having too much pain or problems but I wouldn't play around too much with it, if it kinks up it could rupture and cause you bigger problems. Just make sure to talk to a good surgeon and get all of your options. Good luck and good health to you!

Do you have a urostomy?  I have a hernia also, it comes from the surgery.  It's called parastomal and if not causing major issues it's better to get a hernia belt, but, of course, you must talk this over with a surgeon.  When you say, back to the city, what city are you referencing?
