tough decision to make...looking for any insights..70 year old female who has the choice of a reversal surgery.  Does anyone regret their reversal?  Very concerned about my quality.  Bag is now familiar, but the unknown is very scary for me.  Thank you.

Hello Prizzy. I can empathise with your ambiguity on this subject as having this sort of choice raises the spectre of risks 'v' advantages. The question you ask about people with 'regrets' will ony give you one side of the picture as there must be many people out there who have benefitted from having reversals.  My own choice (not to have it done) was largely based on what had caused me to have the stoma in the first place. I felt that this problem had not been cured and was likely to return if I had the reversal so, despite it being on offer, I declined. We all have different reasons for having our stomas and I have no doubt that if my circumstances were different, I would opt for reversal. I hope you can come to a sensible decision on your own circumstances and that it all works out for you, no matter what you decide.

Best wishes

Bill

Hi prizzi, I have just had my reversal 6 days ago and so far it is going really well. I could not wait to get rid of that ileostomy bag. I have just joined this site and have been reading about people's experiences after reversal, and I consider myself very fortunate. I've already started to add some foods to my diet and so far so good. I am finding that gas is an issue, but I believe that after any surgery that is true. How long have you had your bag?

Go for it I had a reversal 15 years ago. And only lat week I had to get another temp one. If your disease is under control go for it.
