Hi, I wear a stoma guard in the shower but water gets under the wafer tape and I think it is irritating my skin. Anyone else having this issue?

Just want to share that I use an item which has made ostomy pouch maintenance a breeze. The product is flushable ostomy pouch liners. Not suitable for septic tanks. The liner is inserted into the pouch from the top. When a change is required, simply pull the liner out at the top of the pouch and throw it into the toilet. No fuss, no muss. Full instructions for use come with the package.

Has anyone had their pouch disconnected and then reconnected again later on? Mine was disconnected and I currently have a loop illeostomy.

How do you apply your bags? Standing up, sitting down, laying down?
I've been doing it standing and have constantly had leaks. Wondering if applying it sitting will help.

I'm not sure what category to put this post under, but I'm a bit of a wreck. I was putting one foot in front of the other with my urostomy and colostomy and beginning to come to terms with all that. Then I learned that I still have cancer and have begun chemotherapy and immunotherapy to treat that. Third time is a charm? I pray!

I have had an ileostomy for two years now but recently have been having more leaks. I am using Coloplast products and have had good success with them for some time, but recently I have had more leaks. In discussing this with Coloplast, they said they felt, after looking at a picture of my stoma, that I had "shiny skin" under the barrier and that the shiny skin is caused over time by the barrie ...

Question in regards to ileostomy and fat-soluble gel cap vitamins like vitamin D: Does an ileostomy absorb them, or does the pill just come out in the ostomy bag? I've had time-released medications in the past, or any that are enteric-coated, and they just go right through and into the bag. Just curious if anyone here with an ileostomy takes or has taken fat-soluble gel capsules. Thanks, all.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions on eating rice cakes? Are they good for ostomates or bad? Can they cause a blockage? What if you chew really well? I know they are kind of hard. I was just wondering if anyone else eats rice cakes? The little ones not the big ones. Like the flavored ones like that are the size of chips.

I need help. Output has been getting under my barrier ring and my skin is stripping. It hurts pretty freakin bad. So I did a change out this morning. I washed it with head and shoulders. Hi! I'm new here and have been living with an ileostomy caused by Crohn's for over 4 years. I currently take 32 mg loperamide and 40 mg omeprazole to try to control the output, which has always been high.
