Poo around the hole in the flange in a one-piece ostomy bag. I hope I am describing this right. There is poo around the hole's outer edge. What am I not doing right? Am I not cutting the hole big enough? Am I cutting it too small? It looks like a leak may happen if I don't change the bag every day.

what prep did your doctor require for reversal of a colostomy? mine said nothing about a enema to clean out rectum. that seemed odd. Would like to know what your prep was like. Thanks.

I had my ileostomy takedown surgery yesterday.
What are tips and tricks from you all that worked?
The nurses are trying to make me eat solids already, and I don't feel right about that.
What do I do?
Any suggestions are welcome.

I am scheduled for my ileostomy reversal on Friday.

Had surgery on June 10th due to diverticulitis with an abscess. Spent 6 months prior to that on antibiotics, 8 weeks with a PICC line, 4 weeks with an abscess drain that finally resulted in surgery with 10" of my sigmoid colon and abscess removed and an ileostomy.

I got this sprayer from Amazon to prepare for my reversal. However, in the meantime, I find that it really works great for cleaning out the bag. You just put very little pressure on the part of the sprayer that makes the water come out. Full pressure is too strong. Gently fill the bag up with water. Does anyone in the UK know what to do with unwanted supplies?

I have recently changed to a different pouch as the ones I was using didn't stick to me as well as they used to ( Sensura Mio)

I'm still deciding which new brand I will carry on with, they all stick . Some drain better, some crinkle more, some have thin coverings. None seem perfect, maybe I'm too fussy !

After 13 years of having an AJ pouch, I am going in for a complete removal of the J pouch and a permanent ileostomy bag.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I am really nervous about my first surgery, which had me in the hospital for 3 months.
I have since been diagnosed with Crohn's, and it is moving up 40 cm into my small intestine and all throughout the J pouch.

Good morning, ostomates. First off, I want to thank all who chimed in on my first post about the "smelly pouch." It turns out it is "all in my head." I made an appointment with my nurse and wore smelly clothes from the day before just to make sure she could smell it. All she could smell was the baby powder fragrance from my antiperspirant.
