I am just reaching the point where I am able to go out socially for brief periods of time and would like within another month or six weeks to be able to get through a six-hour plane trip. I'd like to hear what people carry in their "emergency kit", advice on what and how much should always be with you, and what kind of thing you pack it all into. I've searched but haven't really found any useful advice on this topic...

Hi There, well I think it all depends on how long your going away for...but just short trips,I used to take a 2 pairs of undies, 1 change of clothes, 2 to 3 wafers and bags and the paste,my ostomy belt, a few disposable bags for the rubbish and job done..I always pre-cut the wafers so I didnt need to take my good curved scissors out of my home. And just carried another normal pair on me.I only had trouble in the very early stages. As it was all a learning experience.I was given a small bag, like a shaving kit bag when I left the hospital...and it was perfect.it kept the main ostomy supplies safe.My clothes I carried in another bag.So glad I dont have to do that now, carry all them things around just to feel safe..Only carry supplies now if I know I'm heading out of town...Which never happens ,so all good...hope some of this helps, good luck and take care...Tarababy

I have a Urostomy , so that makes my Travell kit a bit less complecated. I have  small travell wallets given free by my  supplier. I keep one in my car glove box & another one ready made up to go into any pocket of my clothing. Useful for emergencys on days out , parties , theatre etc. In my wallets I have,2 one piece bags, bundle of wipes, a coupleof satchets of barrier moisture wipe & a couple of black plastic mini disposal bags. I have to remember to rotate the pouches now & again so the adhesive does not go past its sell by date!!

Good 4 u, once you've done a couple of trips, it's 2nd nature!  For me, when I fly, I take the whole damn supply cupboard with me in hand luggage coz I don't trust the airline not to loose my hold luggage & I have to change the whole thing at least once a day!  As mentioned by tarababy, pre-cut flanges etc (no sharp implements allowed in hand luggage!) & I individually bag up each day's supply (1 flange, pouch, Apeel removal wipe, skin protection wipe & gauze swaps in a dispoal bag); for everyday I just keep a make-up bag in hand bag with one spare kit as before wrapped in disposal bag but as previously said by vulkanbmk2, if you don't need to use the emergency kit (happy daze!), make sure you replace it occassionally as they're not quite so sticky after a couple of months in yr handbag!  Happy travels!
