Anybody going through recently an ostomy takedown, just wondering if things like irritated stomach cramps, of course diarrhea, desinos, and dark grey stool, almost black sometimes, just had this done 2 days ago at home now. What to expect, when to worry, no one really tells you.

What type of ostomy/reversal did you have?

No matter what kind of stoma is taken down, it is common to see different colored stools until you eat regularly. What to expect from there depends upon what procedures you have had and varies greatly. I would expect your surgeon has had discussions regarding what to expect post-op.

G'day Chuck, black stools are a sign of blood. Get to the doctor and have it checked out. IGGIE
