Hi guys... I've had my colostomy bag since May. My wife saw ostomy belts that help secure the bag to my body as I'm out in public and are supposed to give more confidence. I ordered one today that I like, and it should be here in about a week. I'm anxious to try it as I'm very self-conscious now with most of my shirt covering most (almost all) of my bag.

Has anyone had a Crohn's or Colitis flare-up years later with an ostomy? What were your symptoms, and what meds were prescribed?

I'm a relatively new ostomate. I have some beginner's questions.
On average, how many times do you have to empty your pouch during the day, say 7 am to 7 pm?
How about at night, 7 pm to 7 am?
How do you avoid the pouch getting too full and bursting when you are sleeping at night?

I thought I should update since I am now back from the hospital for the 2nd time. Robotic reversal on August 1st, sent home after 10 days, back in the hospital as an emergency a week later where I have been on IV antibiotics. Released 29th August and feeling much better. My husband has had a colostomy bag since last December.
Since his surgery, he sleeps in a recliner.
He has not been able to lie in a bed. He tried using a wedge so he's upright but cannot get comfortable. Any suggestions?

I'm new to the colostomy bag world. I am doing pretty darn well managing my open-ended Hollister two-piece bag. I empty it usually three times a day. I could go down to two times, I suppose, but don't want the weight on my still healing guts, even though my output is pretty low because I'm not a big eater.

Can someone possibly recommend a medical supply company that you use to purchase urostomy supplies from? I use Hollister products and the supplier is Edgepark. I have just got back from my first trip away from home. Exactly 6 months since I got my pal Bilbo attached.
