I had fistula surgery today. My surgeon took out the setons and cut open the fistula track. I have an incision in my butt that looks like a pothole hole. Thankfully I have an Ileostomy and no stool passes through there, so it should heal quicker. Does this cure the fistula? Can it come back after the incision closes? Anyone else gone through this surgery?

Yes stoma spewing is normal right?

But I have a double barrel ileostomy and it's the other stoma, the normally quiet and just spews out a chunk once in awhile, that for some reason today, spewed for several minutes like a faucet. Mucus, smelly yellow white mucus. Phew. I thought I sprung a leak on my new fresh bag I put on this morning.

Will I need to put on another bag now?

I am 4 weeks post ileostomy surgery and have developed a nasty infection around my stoma. I have puss coming out from under the stoma and angry cracked red skin around that. I saw my doctor on Friday and she put me on oral antibiotics and gave me hydrocortisone cream to put on my skin.

Hello everyone, I just got my ileostomy on Friday and I’m dealing with major depression. I know it’s not the end of the world but I just have so many degrading thoughts alone in the hospital room. I’m having so much output and it smells bad, eating is so hard and I’m just wondering if anyone else felt this way at first.

I am having a really hard time eating. No appetite. Had ileostomy Oct 17. Gone from 138 to 115. Surgeon put me in the hospital Oct 26. Said I was extremely dehydrated. So nauseated all the time. Original colostomy was Oct 2023. Anyone else have no appetite and nausea?

Hi there, I had a colostomy at the end of October and have been okay (as you can be) but I'm utterly disturbed by the smell of today's output and it's really worrying me. So my insurance in all it's lovely splendor has decided to give me for christmas a reduction in the amount of wafers I can get a month down to 10 from 20 but they are willing to give me 20 bags and 20 rings. A Sharpie, magic marker with the date and time helps me.
