If you're using a Hollister 2-piece system... here is a drain tip provided to me by my ostomy nurse.
Put a pleat in the drain plastic.
Pinch each side to put a crease in it.
What it looks like before pushing the lips together, then folding the plastic up and fastening the Velcro.

Hi, I have had my stoma for 6 years now. When I first had my stoma op, I had a small amount of bowel movements and still sometimes get the feeling that I need to sit on the toilet but nothing happens. I had this feeling today and two small amounts of something came out. Is this anything anyone else has had?

I heard today that the irrigation pump Irypump and its accessories will no longer be available, which means in a few months I won't be able to irrigate with an Irypump.
I've used gravity bags before and didn't get on with them very well.
Has anyone successfully used a mechanical pump for irrigation? What brand? I've looked locally in the UK and can't find anything comparable to the Irypump.

Was wondering if anyone saw the episode of Chicago Med yesterday that had a storyline about a young boy with an ileostomy. This is so rare even in movies so I definitely took notice and they tried to take a good stab at it. For someone who knows very little about ostomies and surgical procedures, it was okay I guess. But medical storylines on these shows are always far from reality anyway.

I got a colostomy back in May, and now I've noticed my stoma is 'poofier' or a bit more protruding. Is this normal?
