I ran into an issue with Hollister bags. I have been using the 2-piece system since my surgery almost 4 weeks ago. The last 2 bags leak at night when I'm lying down. The area that leaks is out the white vent. I wake up a mess in the morning. Is this a common problem or faulty bags? Company is closed Saturdays, so can't call them.

Just went through TSA check at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California. Domestic flight to Phoenix.
Just mentioned I have an ostomy. They had me rub my hands on my shirt over the colostomy. Then they ran a wand over my hands. They put the wand sample wipe in a machine, then I was good to go.
Easy peasy.

A thing that has been playing on my mind recently is the feeling of being wanted. Whether you're single or in a relationship, does having a stoma affect the way you think others feel about you, or does it affect how you behave in certain situations?
I know a lot of people will admit to having confidence issues post-surgery. I was just wondering what everyone's take is.

I read here that a few people rinse their two-piece bag after emptying. I tried it and it's great! I used to use wipes and tissue when I emptied my bag. I always wondered what I would do if I ran out, especially since I live on a budget now. Using toilet tissue used up more than I wanted to, and wipes are not cheap. I have an ileostomy and at present, due to kidney problems, I have water retention. I find if I have a lot of liquids, I suffer at night with water seeping from the circumference of the stoma. So, I had my first date since my split/divorce with my ex-husband.
I wear bag covers over my ostomy bag and my date saw it and asked me what it was. I explained to him about my health and that I have a permanent ostomy. I could tell right away after that by the look on his face it was over before the date even started.

Hi all,
I am two-plus months with my colostomy and doing very well with all of it. I will be meeting with my surgeon to discuss reversal at the six-month point. Not sure I will choose a reversal as I am leery of having another surgery/recovery period.
Wondering if anyone reading my post has had a reversal and what that was and is your experience? I am doing so well... better than I have in ove ...

I've had my stoma for almost 2 months now. I've noticed it shrink slightly a few weeks after surgery, but in the last 2 weeks, it has puffed out larger a bit more. Is this normal? I've got an appointment with the surgeon for a follow-up this coming Tuesday and will ask him, but in the meantime, is this normal?

I have incomplete bowel motions. My anus is sewn up and I have a Barbie bum. It happens regularly where I have this terrible bowel motion; it causes pain, and all that comes out of my bum is clear gel. What can I do?
