I had a mesh repair for 3 hernias. Two parastomal and an umbilical. Sometimes when I bend down, say to wash my feet in the shower for instance, it feels like my intestines move and it hurts. It's not everytime I bend only on occasions. I have to stand up straight for a few minutes to let them get back in place. This has happened several times.

My question is does this happen to anyone else ...

Hi everyone! I have skin irritation and am trying the two-piece pouch based on my nurse's suggestion. The wafer has a material feel to it that is unlike the one piece. Has anyone showered with the two-piece? I'm really new to this so thought I'd ask because I'm still scared to shower without a pouch.

My stoma is the size of a pencil eraser, and super convex. I am changing 2 to 3 times a day. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to know any advice as a gay man with an ostomy having sex. I'm too shy to ask my doctor and would like some advice. I am a 33-year-old male bottom.

I had my ileostomy about 5 years ago and was recently prescribed Flomax for a prostate issue. I was told early on not to take capsules because they might clog the stoma, and I am afraid to take it. Does anyone have any experience taking Flomax with an ostomy? There doesn't seem to be an alternative to Flomax as a capsule. Thanks in advance.

I'd love to hear from any of you who have had experience with either brand. My surgeon's nurse said next week she's going to show me some Hollister supplies because I've been using Coloplast with good and bad results.

Can anyone help with suggestions to prevent leaks? I've had my stoma for three years and have had regular leaks from the time I was in the hospital to now.

Being proactive about the pending procedure, I will be looking for a combo conceal and carry ostomy band in the near future. I hike in some remote areas and hope to get back into running and trail running after recovery. I have been looking online and have had no luck so far. Suggestions are appreciated.

Hello all!
I am new to the ostomy thing. At first, all was well, but now I am having issues with the bag staying adhered for more than 3 days. I have found that quite often after showering, the adhesive starts to loosen. I have thought about purchasing a shower guard, but looking at them, I am not sure it will help. My issue is at the top of the bag itself.

My theory on all the hub-bub on Kate and the LONG recovery is she had to have a temporary ostomy due to that surgery she had. She did not want to do any public appearances with an ostomy bag.

Just my theory.

I am having hand surgery and will have my hand in a cast for 6 to 8 weeks. I have not figured out a way where I can change my two-piece system or even empty it with one hand. Please help with ideas because I cannot find anyone to help me at home, and the insurance won't pay for help at home. Thank you.

Hi all, I finally had my surgery to have my gallbladder removed and a colostomy on June 10th. I've been allowed home as the wound was okay and I changed my own bag. I'm glad to be back in my bed, but I can't get out without a lot of support. Thankfully, I have my husband to help out, but I feel like a burden. I'm in a fair bit of pain, but glad it's done.

Grapefruit was on the top 10 list of foods not to eat when I first received my ostomy. Now, I can't stop eating them. Why have I never noticed any complications? Does anybody know?
